This week’s Friday Girl is Funtime Sindy. I decided to feature her this week because I was lucky enough to find her motorcycle suit on eBay for a good price and in Australia. I already had the scooter from the same year so I had to get it. My Funtime Sindy has possession of the bike at present. The older Sindy’s can’t wear the helmet.
I do admit that I get a little confused between Funtime Sindy who I think was the basic doll and Lovely Lively. This Sindy does not have articulated wrists or the gauntlet body but she does have rooted eyelashes. My belief is that she is from around 1974 but I am no expert. I think Jenjoy could probably ID her more accurately than I can. I did describe her in a post when I got her.
The outfit is a one-piece vinyl suit, helmet, yellow shoes and binoculars. I am not sure why she has binoculars. Perhaps she was going to go for a ride in the country to go bird watching. It was a snug fit and I had to be careful not to tug it too hard while I was putting it on her. This outfit was issued in 1983.
I thought I’d add a couple of other photos that I was playing with as well. Sindy at a Tube Station in London and at a market.
If you are wondering about the backdrop for her scooter ride it is a pastel painting done by Naomi. She saw this old abandoned locomotive at one of the preserved railways she visited in England last year and took a photo which was the inspiration for the picture.
I have to say that I really like some of the early 80s Sindy fashions. If you haven’t already go and take a look at “Our Sindy Museum” where they have some lovely photos of dolls and outfits.
