Our countries today are Austria, Portugal, Italy and the Czech Republic. These outfits all came without the magazines. Except for Portugal where I had a magazine and no dress. I had to do some research to find out which ones they were.
Introduction
It was another Saturday afternoon at the warehouse. Vivienne and Becky arrived together. Jan and Midge joined them soon after. Jan was to be one of the models that day. Kate, an old friend of both Jan and Midge, was next to arrive, followed by Alison who Vivienne had called earlier in the week to ask if she could come.
“These dresses you are modelling today are some of the last ones to be photographed. ” Vivienne told the others. “In fact, I think that one more session next week is going to wrap it up.”
“Oh, I am going to miss doing this so much.” sighed Jan. “It’s been wonderful trying on all these beautiful outfits.”
“We have had fun, haven’t we? ” Becky replied.
“I have too,” said Midge. “I am not really a fashion photographer but I have really enjoyed the creative side of this project Vivienne.”

The Fashions
Czech Republic:
Jan’s photo shoot started with a near disaster. “Oh no! I’ve broken it.” she cried as the beaded strap of her dress snapped sending beads all over the floor. Vivienne and Becky were there in a flash.
“Stand still Jan.” ordered Vivienne. “Let’s gather up those beads before they are lost.”
“Don’t worry.” Becky added, collecting her sewing box. “I always come prepared for this type of accident. Midge, could you shine one of your lights over here please? It will help us find the beads.” The girls carefully gathered up all the beads and Becky rethreaded them and resewed the strap while Jan waited.
While that was being done Midge set up to photograph the other models.
*Note: The bead accident actually happened. The dress strap was broken when I first got the clothing, and I had put a stitch in the strap to hold it. Some of the beads were already missing. However, when I went to dress Jan it broke. There were a couple of bead necklaces amongst the props, so I sacrificed one of them to repair the strap properly. Luckily, the beads were similar, so it doesn’t really show.
Austria:
While Becky was busy sewing, Vivienne went to help the other two models get ready. Kate wore a pretty lavender coloured dress. “This dress came without documentation so I did some research to find out what country this one represents.” Vivienne told her. “It turns out it is by an Austrian designer.”
“Where is mine from?” asked Alison curiously.
“Italy.” replied Vivienne. “It was so interesting to research all the mystery outfits and I’m very pleased that we now know where they all came from.”
Italy
Despite the delay due to Jan’s mishap the photo shoot was completed in good time and Midge set up the group shots. Becky joined the girls for the last one but Vivienne declined as she had a date later and wanted to get home to get ready for it.
Everyone was getting changed when Julia breezed in. “Hello darlings, I just popped in to see what you were shooting today. Am I too late to join in?”
“Yes Julia, you are.” replied Becky. “We’re done for the day.”
“Oh but there is still a bag here.” Julia commented taking down a lone dress bag.
“It’s the outfit from Portugal but we don’t have the dress, just the sash so we didn’t use it.”
“Oh come on, ” wheedled Julia. “You don’t want an incomplete record. You should photograph the sash too. Where’s Vivienne. I’m sure she’d agree.”
“She’s gone. ” sighed Becky, “Fine, if Midge doesn’t mind you can be photographed with the sash. But you will have to ask her. She’s probably put her gear away by now.”
Julia was undeterred as usual and went off to find Midge. “Midge darling, you have time for just a couple more pictures don’t you?”
Midge decided that it would be quicker to just take the pictures than argue with Julia.
Julia whipped her dress off and wrapped the huge sash around her body sari style and Midge took a couple of pictures.
“Right, everything is accounted for.” said Becky collecting the sash. “Hurry and dress Julia, I want to lock up.”
Yes, we are getting near the end now. I might have to start thinking of another long-term project. Maybe I’ll showcase all the Fashion Avenue outfits I have so that Vivienne and the team can keep on working. What do you think?
